Minimum System Requirements
Verify your system satisfies the minimum requirements:
- A broadband Internet connection of 5Mbps download or greater.
You can test your connection speed on the
Speedtest
web site.
- On PCs and Macs, the latest version of
Chrome,
Firefox,
or Apple Safari is required. Microsoft Edge is supported, but Internet
Explorer is not supported.
- On iPhones and iPads, iOS 8.0 or greater is required. Only
Safari is supported on iOS devices.
- Modern Android devices SHOULD work, but we don't currently
support them.
I'm Using Safari and the Video Played One Frame and Stopped
As of Safari 11, videos with sound cannot automatically play anymore.
You can work around this by re-enabling autoplay for our website only:
In the
Safari menu, select
Settings for This Website...
In the settings box that appears, choose
Allow All Auto-Play
from the
Auto-Play drop down box. Close the box and then
refresh your browser.
Video is Stopping and Starting (Buffering)
If the video plays but buffers frequently, that indicates your connection
to our server is not currently fast enough for smooth playback. If your
connection is shared, it may be overloaded from too many other users. If
on WiFi, your signal may not be strong enough or there could be too much
interference from other nearby WiFi devices. Moving closer to the
WiFi router / access point can sometimes help.
Video does not Play at All
If the video does not play at all or you receive an error message,
try refreshing the page. If that does not work, your system may have a
configuration issue and you should consult with your IT or computer
tech support to troubleshoot the issue. Common causes are:
- Using an out of date or unsupported web browser
- Internet security software is blocking access to our site.
If using software such as Norton or McAfee Internet Security,
try temporarily disabling it or adding an "exception" for our
video server: video.aoischool.com.
- A firewall rule is preventing you from connecting to port
8443 on our server.
- A malware infection on the computer you are using. Scan your
system for malware if you have not done so recently.
For advanced users: we stream all video using Apple's HLS protocol
from port
8443 on our server. The player component
is written in JavaScript.
The #1 method for restoring functionality is to reboot your
computer.
